Animax Asia Posts Ad for Handa-kun Anime's Premiere

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Anime premieres on January 18 with 2 episodes every Wednesday, Thursday

Southeast Asian channel Animax Asia began streaming a commercial on Friday for its airing of the Handa-kun prequel anime. Animax Asia will begin airing the series on January 18 with two episodes every Wednesday and Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in Indonesia and Thailand, and at 8:00 p.m. in Singapore and the Philippines.

The anime premiered in Japan in July last year.

Animax Asia describes the anime:

Handa Sei is a handsome high school student. Despite his aloof personality, he exudes charming characteristics that earn him the respect of his schoolmates. Others perceive Handa as someone perfect and impossible to emulate, so they are always cautious when they interact with him. However, Handa is quite pessimistic; he tends to mistake others' kindness as enmity, and thus creating many hilarious episodes.

Yoshitaka Koyama (Rune Soldier, Noramimi, Kero Kero Chime) directed the anime at diomedéa, while Michiko Yokote (Shirobako, Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches, Dagashi Kashi) supervised and penned the series' scripts alongside scriptwriters Mariko Kunisawa (Hatsukoi Limited, Magimoji Rurumo) and Miharu Hirami (Cookin' Idol Ai! Mai! Main!, Blue Spring Ride). Mayuko Matsumoto (Gingitsune, Kan Colle) designed the characters. Hanyū is credited for prop design. Kaori Kikuna (Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Star Blazers 2199, Kan Colle) is credited as art director, while Yoko Matsuhara (Lovely Complex, Arakawa under the Bridge × Bridge) is credited for color design. Yasuyuki Itou (Gingitsune, Kan Colle, The Lost Village) was director of photography, while Yuuji Oka (Fairy Tail, Kan Colle, Looking Up At The Half-Moon) was the editor. Ken Itō (High School DxD New) composed the music at Lantis. Kengo Kawazoe (Diabolik Lovers, Re-Kan!, Komori-san Can't Decline) was the sound director.

Fo'xTails performed the opening theme song "The LiBERTY," while Kenichi Suzumura performed the ending theme song "HIDE-AND-SEEK."

The anime adapts Satsuki Yoshino's manga of the same name. The manga is a spinoff of Yoshino's Barakamon manga. Animax Asia also aired the television anime adaptation of Barakamon as it aired in Japan.
