Seven Seas Licenses Dragon Half Manga

posted on by Karen Ressler
1989 manga about half-dragon girl inspired 1993 OVA

Seven Seas Entertainment announced on Friday that it has licensed Ryusuke Mita's Dragon Half manga. The company will release the seven-volume series in three omnibus volumes that will also include bonus material, color illustrations, silver foil wraparound covers, and the Dragon Half Z epilogue. The first volume is slated for December 26.

Seven Seas describes the story:

A young girl named Mink has fallen for the dreamy Dick Saucer, a famous idol. There's only one problem: Dick's not just an idol—he's a dragon slayer, too...and Mink is half dragon! To solve this conundrum, Mink and her friends must set out on a playful quest to destroy the Demon Lord Azetodeth and gain a potion that will make Mink completely human! Will Mink's love finally be requited or this doomed to be a fetch quest failure?

Mita's original manga began in 1989 and has not previously been released in English. A two-episode video anime adaptation premiered in Japan in 1993. ADV Films released both episodes on dub VHS tape in 2000, then released them in DVD in September of the same year. Discotek Media licensed the series, and released it on DVD in March 2014. Crunchyroll is streaming the anime with both English and Japanese audio.
