Gabriel Dropout Anime Gets Hot Springs OVA

posted on by Karen Ressler
Episode to bundle with 1st BD/DVD in March

The official website for the Gabriel DropOut television anime announced on Friday that the first Blu-ray Disc and DVD sets will include an original video anime (OVA) episode when they ship on March 24. The episode was originally scheduled to ship with the second Blu-ray Disc and DVD sets on April 26.

The OVA is titled "Yukemuri Ryojō-hen ~Tenshi no Kiyoraka na Hada ni Semaru Akuma no Wana~." (Steam Travel Mood Story ~The Devil's Trap to Get Close to The Angel's Pure Body~). In the episode's story, the four main characters go to the hot springs after Vignette wins a ticket in a shopping center lottery. Satania plans to use a "certain item" to take Gabriel down a peg while they are there. However, she first has to get Gabriel, who would prefer not to move, to go to the hot springs with her.

Takashi Aoshima is writing the script, Takenori Mihara is handling the storyboards, and Tatsuya Sasaki is directing. The animation directors include Hitomi Kaiho, Chisato Kikunaga, Masayoshi Kikuchi, Mayumi Fujita, Jin Luhao, and Yōshoku Kin. Yuuko Ikezoe, Michiyo Sugawara are serving as assistant animation directors.

The anime premiered in Japan on January 9 and Crunchyroll is streaming the series as it airs. The anime is reuniting the main staff from summer 2015's Himōto! Umaru-chan anime. Masahiko Ohta is directing the series, Katsuhiro Kumagai is serving as character designer, and Takashi Aoshima is handling the series composition at studio Doga Kobo.

The comedy, based on Ukami's ongoing manga, follows Gabriel White, who graduated at the top of her class at angel school and attends a human school on earth in pursuit of knowledge, but then gets engrossed in a web game and decides it's too much trouble to go anywhere. She becomes a good-for-nothing angel, or "datenshi."
