Bamboo Blade's Masahiro Totsuka Launches Mannaka no Rikkun Manga on February 16

"Home comedy" manga focuses on boy named Rikkun, his eccentric family

This year's 11th issue of Kodansha's Morning magazine revealed on Thursday that Masahiro Totsuka will launch a new series titled Mannaka no Rikkun (Rikkun in the Middle) in the magazine's next issue on February 16. The manga will have a color opening page. It will be Totsuka's first series in Morning, and his third solo series.

The magazine outlines the manga's premise as a "home comedy" centering on the mischievous boy Rikkun and his eccentric family. Totsuka has been teasing the series on his Twitter account; he posted a silhouette of Rikkun (pictured right) last month.

Totsuka and Akira Takahashi launched the Master Grape manga in Shogakukan's Monthly Shonen Sunday magazine in October.

Totsuka and Jingu Takao's Bamboo Blade C manga ended in Square Enix's Monthly Big Gangan magazine last August. Totsuka and Saki Azumi's BB Deformer spin-off manga ended in the same month. The final compiled book volumes for both series — Bamboo Blade C's seventh volume and BB Deformer's second volume — shipped in Japan in October.

Totsuka and artist Aguri Igarashi (Saki Achiga-hen episode of side-A) already ended the first Bamboo Blade manga series in 2010, and Yen Press published it in North America. AIC A.S.T.A. adapted the manga into a television anime series in 2007-2008, and Funimation released the anime in North America. Totsuka and Studio Neko ended the second manga series, Bamboo Blade B, in Monthly Shonen Gangan in November 2013.
