ClariS Performs Eromanga Sensei TV Anime's Opening Song

posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Adaptation of story by Oreimo creator premieres in April

The musical duo ClariS announced at their "ClariS 1st Budōkan Concert ~Futatsu no Kamen to Ushinawareta Taiyō~" (ClariS 1st Budōkan Concert: Two Masks and the Lost Sun) concert on Friday that they will perform the opening theme song "Hitorigoto" (Soliloquy) for the Eromanga Sensei television anime.

ClariS will release the song's single on April 26. The duo also performed opening theme songs "irony" and "reunion" for the two seasons of the Oreimo anime inspired by Tsukasa Fushimi's original light novels.

The adaptation of Fushimi's Eromanga Sensei light novel series will premiere in April on Tokyo MX, BS11, Tochigi TV, GTV, MBS, and TV Aichi. The anime's director Ryohei Takeshita revealed last month that the series was still recruiting an animation director and key animators.

The Eromanga Sensei "new sibling romantic comedy" revolves around Masamune Izumi, a light novel author in high school. Masamune's little sister is Sagiri, a shut-in girl who hasn't left her room for an entire year. She even forces her brother to make and bring her meals when she stomps on the floor. Masamune wants his sister to leave her room, because the two of them are each other's only family.

Masamune's novel illustrator, penname "Ero Manga Sensei," draws extremely perverted drawings, and is very reliable. Masamune had never met his illustrator, and figured he was just a disgusting, perverted otaku. However, the truth is revealed that his "Ero Manga Sensei" is his own younger sister. To add to the chaos that erupts between the siblings, a beautiful, female, best-selling shōjo manga creator becomes their rival.

Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Sword Art Online's Kirito) is playing the protagonist Masamune Izumi (pictured below right), and Akane Fujita (Mahō Shōjo Nante Mō Ii Desu Kara's Yuzuka Hanami) is playing Sagiri Izumi (pictured below left) in the anime. Fujita is reprising the role from an earlier visual drama that was broadcast on Niconico.

Other cast members include:

Minami Takahashi (Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma's Megumi Tadokoro) as Elf Yamada, a top-selling novelist with another publisher

Saori Ōnishi (Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend's Eriri Spencer Sawamura) as Muramasa Senjyu, a younger but more experienced novelist with Masamune's publisher

Ibuki Kido (If Her Flag Breaks' Nanami Knight Bladefield) as Megumi Jinno, Sagiri's classmate

Yui Ishikawa (Attack on Titan's Mikasa Ackerman) as Tomoe Takasago, Masamune's classmate

Ryohei Takeshita (Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun chief animation director) and Tatsuya Takahashi (And you thought there is never a girl online?, The IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls, Pandora in the Crimson Shell: Ghost Urn) are directing and supervising the series scripts, respectively. Hiroyuki Oda (a pseudonym of Hiro Kanzaki) is designing the characters for animation. Shinichiro Kashiwada is serving as the producer of the project, and Aniplex and A-1 Pictures are producing the anime.

Fushimi launched the light novel series in 2013 after finishing the Oreimo (Ore no Imōto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai) light novel series. As with Oreimo, Hiro Kanzaki draws the illustrations for Eromanga Sensei.
