Nekopara Kickstarter Campaign Ends After Hitting Mini Visual Novel Stretch Goal

Sekai Project's Kickstarter campaign to fund an OVA adaptation of NEKO WORKs and Sayori's NEKOPARA adult visual novel ended on Saturday after raising US$963,376. Sekai Project announced earlier on Saturday that the campaign is now the "most funded Animation on Kickstarter" (Under the Dog raised US$878,028).
The project reached its initial goal of US$100,000 to create a 20 minute OVA within one hour of the Kickstarter's launch on December 29, but Sekai Project revealed that every additional US$100,000 would extend the OVA by 10 minutes to a maximum of $500,000 and 60 minutes.
The project's US$600,000 stretch goal is adding subtitles in Russian French, Spanish, Korean, German, and Portuguese for the OVA. The project's US$800,000 stretch goal has green-lit a mini visual novel game about Chocola and Vanilla as children. The project also had a stretch goal at US$1 million to green-light a short anime adaptation of the mini visual novel game, but the campaign ended shy of the US$1 million mark.
Sekai Project released the Nekopara Vol. 1 visual novel on PC via Steam in December 2014. The company describes the story:
What's NEKOPARA? Why, it's a cat paradise!
Kashou Minazuki, the son of a long line of Japanese confection makers moved out to open his own shop "La Soleil" as a patisserie.
But upon moving out, hidden amongst his things were two of the catgirls ("neko"), Chocola and Vanilla, that the family had been raising. When he tried to send them back, they begged and pleaded until he gave in and now they've opened La Soleil together.
With two nekos who really, REALLY love their master trying their very best and occasionally failing -- a heartful comedy opens for business!
Sekai Project also released the Nekopara Vol. 0 fandisc prequel on PC in August 2015, and the Nekopara Vol. 2 game in February 2016. Sekai Project also released the first game in an uncensored adult version. NEKO WORKs revealed in May 2016 that a Nekopara Vol. 3 is under development.
