The staff of the anime adaptation of Koromo's Koisuru Shirokuma (Polar Bear in Love) manga revealed on Wednesday that the "petite anime" will screen in about 50 theaters in Japan. Theaters will show the anime before trailers in movie screenings beginning on March 4. The staff also unveiled a new visual for the anime.
In addition, the anime's official website revealed the anime's staff. Kazuya Ichikawa (Tantei Team KZ Jiken Note, Monster Strike the Animation) is directing the anime at Gathering, and is also penning the script. Yō Yamada (Penguindrum, The Garden of Words, your name.) is the sound director. Rock band Scenario Art (The Perfect Insider) will perform the anime's theme song.
Natsuki Hanae (The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.'s Reita, Haruchika's Shinjirō) will play Seal, and Yuichiro Umehara (Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans' Eugene, Nananin no Ayakashi's Guten) will play Polar Bear.
The anime's official website describes the story:
Polar Bear: You're a male, but I don't mind.
Seal: I care.
A polar bear (male) happens to become fond of a white seal (male).
Will his love be fulfilled?
In a world where the strong eat the weak, white love is spun!!
The original manga revolves around a polar bear who falls in love with an earless seal, and he wants nothing else except to protect him, even though the seal constantly thinks the bear will eat him.
Koromo launched the manga on the free manga app Comico in December 2014, and began serializing it in Monthly Comic Gene in June 2015. Kadokawa published the manga's second compiled book volume last August, and the third is slated to ship on March 27.
