Sci-fi action series takes place in alternate history

This year's April issue of Kadokawa's Young Ace magazine published the final chapter of Kitsune Tennouji's Gunners manga last Saturday. The sixth and final volume will ship on April 4.

Tennouji launched the manga in Young Ace in May 2011. The science fiction action series takes place in an alternate timeline where the Soviet Union invaded Hokkaido in 1946. It has been half a century since the defeat, and the land is embroiled in a war with a mysterious invading army. The shadow of war falls over protagonist Yuu's daily life.

Tennouji's other manga titles include Upotte!!, Eden's Bowy, Orfina, and Orfina SAGA. The Upotte!! four-panel manga inspired a net anime in 2012; Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired in Japan and Sentai Filmworks released the series on Blu-ray Disc and DVD along with its OVA episode. Eden's Bowy inspired a television anime series in 1999, and ADV Films released the anime in North America. CMX Manga published the Orfina manga in English.
