Gempak Starz Licenses 'Another', Heroin Aku Seorang Manga

'Another' manga based on Yukito Ayatsuji novel gets English, Malaysian releases

Malaysian publisher Gempak Starz announced last week that it has licensed Hiro Kiyohara's manga adaptation of Yukito Ayatsuji's Another novel, and Mizuki Kuze's Heroin Aku Seorang (Hitorijme Heroine) manga.

Gempak Starz describes the Another manga:

26 years ago at North Yomiyama Junior High School, there was a popular student named Misaki in Class 3-3. However, he suddenly passed away in an accident. But his classmates were unable to accept his death. So they all continued to pretend that “Misaki is alive”. But on the day of their graduation ceremony… Misaki appeared in a group photo of Class 3-3… And since then…

Gempak Starz will publish the manga in both English and Malaysian.

Kiyohara launched the manga in Kadokawa's Young Ace magazine in 2010, and ended it in 2012. Kadokawa published four volumes for the manga. Kiyohara also launched the Another0 manga in Young Ace in 2012, and finished it in the same year.

Ayatsuji published the original novel in 2009. The novel inspired a 2012 anime by P.A. Works, with character designs by Noizi Ito. Ayatsuji published a sequel novel titled Another: Episode S in 2013, and another sequel titled Another 2001 in 2014.

Gempak Starz describes the Heroin Aku Seorang manga:

China is a normal high school girl who really likes reading. One day, artist duo Link arrives at her school to film on-location for a television drama, and China and Link member Kanata met each other on the school roof. Kanata is very serious about his work, but China surprisingly makes him laugh. Kanata treats China like a proper lady, and they become closer to each other, which is something that Link and the staff members would never have imagined.

Gempak Starz will publish the manga in Malaysian.

Kuze launched the manga in Shogakukan's Ciao magazine in 2013, and ended it in 2014. Shogakukan published one compiled book volume for the series.

Kuze previously drew a manga adaptation of the Dennō Coil television anime series in Ciao in 2007. Shogakukan published one compiled book volume for the manga.
