Toshiyuki Shirai directs July anime at ufotable

The official website for Katsugeki! Tōken Ranbu (Action Picture! Touken Ranbu), ufotable's television anime of the Touken Ranbu -Online- game, began streaming a "sword action introduction video" for the series on Sunday. The video introduces the show's weapons animators. (Note: The linked video is region-blocked to Japan.)

The anime will star:

Sōma Saitō is performing the show's opening theme song, and Kalafina is performing the ending theme song.

Toshiyuki Shirai (Fate/Zero, Tales of Zestiria the X animation director) is directing the series at ufotable. Hideyuki Fukasawa (Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works, Flowers of Evil) is composing the music.

Additional staff members include:

The series will premiere in July on Tokyo MX, BS11, Gunma TV, Tochigi TV, and MBS.

DMM's Touken Ranbu "sword personification training game" takes famous swords from Japanese history and interprets them as bishōnen. Nitroplus designed the characters and scenario. The game launched in Japan last year, and it has more than 1.5 million registered users. The game has acquired a large female fanbase and inspired a wide range of merchandise, as well as several manga and stage productions.

The separate Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru anime series premiered in Japan on October 2. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired in Japan, and Funimation streamed an English dub. A second season of the series will premiere in January 2018.
