Escha Chron OVA Reveals Main Character Designs

posted on by Jennifer Sherman
2-episode anime stars Chika Anzai, Kiyono Yasuno

The official website for the two-episode original video anime adaptation of Avex Pictures' DIVE II Entertainment music label's "Escha Chron" stage recital project revealed character designs and descriptions for four characters on Friday. The cast includes (Note: Name romanizations are not official.):

Chika Anzai as Escha, a beautiful girl with a mysterious atmosphere.

Kiyono Yasuno as Chron, a bright and charming girl overflowing with energy.

Wataru Hatano as Junta Kasai (guest character #1), a former composer, vocalist, and guitarist of a popular band. After the band broke up, he began working on his solo career and composing music for other artists.

Rina Satō as Shiori Saitō (guest character #2), an office worker pursuing her dream job and living alone in the city. Her parents run a traditional hot spring inn.

The website also announced that Avex Pictures will hold an advance screenings for the anime at the Machi Asobi Vol.18 event at ufotable Cinema in Tokushima on May 6. The four main cast members, chief director Seiji Mizushima, and director Hikaru Yamaguchi will also attend a talk show event on the same day.

The website revealed a key visual in March.

The "heartwarming" anime's story follows the two titular women Escha and Chron, whose contrasting personalities are like the sun and moon. The two women are from "Terminal," a future post-apocalyptic world that's empty and monochrome. The two women cross worlds and arrive in the present day, which they call "Transit." As Escha and Chron experience the light (scenery) and sound (music) of the real world, the future world of Terminal gradually changes into a more vivid world.

Seiji Mizushima (Fullmetal Alchemist, Mobile Suit Gundam 00, Concrete Revolutio) is serving as chief director of the anime at studio Lerche (Assassination Classroom, Danganronpa The Animation). Hikaru Yamaguchi (Mr. Osomatsu storyboard and episode director) is directing the anime. Tatsuya Takahashi (The IDOLM@STER, The Eden of Grisaia) is writing the script, Toru Minazuki (To Heart) is the original character designer, and Satomi Watabe (Aikatsu!, Aikatsu Stars! design) is adapting those designs for animation. Hifumi, inc. is composing the music at DIVE II Entertainment. Terminal is credited with the original work.

DIVE II Entertainment had presented the stage recital during its "D-world vol.0" event on July 10.
