The organizers of the Anime Expo convention announced on Tuesday that it will host GARNiDELiA and Konomi Suzuki as part of the convention's Anisong World Matsuri music festival event. They will perform on July 1 at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles.

GARNiDELiA consists of composer Yoshinori Abe (toku) and vocalist Mai Mizuhashi (MARiA). The duo first worked together on "Color," the opening theme song of the Freezing anime, although they had not yet made the GARNiDELiA unit name at that point. The duo formally debuted in 2014 with their single "Ambiguous," which was used as the opening theme for the Kill la Kill anime. The group has since performed theme songs for anime such as The irregular at magic high school, Gundam: Reconguista in G, and Gunslinger Stratos: The Animation.

Suzuki debuted at age 15 after winning Animax's fifth All-Japan Anison (anime song) Grand Prix singing contest in 2011. She has since performed songs for Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-, No Game, No Life, Dusk maiden of Amnesia, The Pet Girl of Sakurasou, WATAMOTE, Freezing Vibration, , Lord Marksman and Vanadis, Absolute Duo, BBK/BRNK, Ange Vierge, and Akashic Records of Bastard Magical Instructor, among others. She will make her major voice-acting debut in the upcoming Lost Song anime, though she previously had a minor role in Dusk maiden of Amnesia.

Anisong World Matsuri will hold concerts on Friday, June 30 and Saturday, July 1 during the convention. The festival event ran at last year's Anime Expo 2016 as a collaboration between Lantis, Sony Music Entertainment Japan Inc., Amuse, Bandai Visual, Bandai Namco Live Creative, and Anime Consortium Japan. Otakon will also host the event in August for its East Coast debut.

This year's Anime Expo convention will run from July 1 to July 4 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. In addition, the convention will formally include a preview night a day before on June 30. The Super Dimension Fortress Macross singer and voice actress Mari Iijima will return to the convention this year. Akira Himekawa, the manga creator duo known for their manga adaptations of Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda games, is also attending the convention. Musicians ☆Taku Takahashi, Teddyloid, and Pa's Lam System will perform at the convention's Neon District concert this year. Ali Project and Minori Chihara will also perform at Anisong World Matsuri.
