Tamiya Model Kit Company President Masayuki Tamiya Passes Away at 59

Son-in-law of former president took position in 2008
Masayuki Tamiya, president of the model kit company Tamiya, passed away on May 1 "after a long battle with illness." He was 59.
His close relatives held a funeral on May 5, and his father-in-law and Chairman of the Board Shunsaku Tamiya has announced a farewell event for June 5 at a hotel in Shizuoka.
Masayuki Tamiya began working at Tamiya in 1988, and he became senior executive director in 2004. He also headed the company's Philippine subsidiary. In May 2008, Shunsaku Tamiya stepped down as president, and Masayuki Tamiya took over.
