Soccer manga, social media manga will debut same day as Japan

Viz Media's English digital edition of Weekly Shonen Jump announced on Monday that it will publish the first chapter of Shudan! by Takuma Yokota (Straighten Up! Welcome to Shika High's Competitive Dance Club) in next week's issue on June 12. The magazine's June 19 issue will publish the first chapter of Cross Account by Tsunehiro Date (Tokyo Wonder Boys).

Both manga will begin on the same days they are published in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in Japan. The titles are part of the "Jump Start" initiative, where Viz Media's Shonen Jump publishes the first three chapters of a new manga simultaneously with the Japanese release.

The Shūdan! manga will tell a story of a young man growing up into adulthood in the "soccer kingdom" of Shizuoka. Cross Account will tell a story of social media and the crossing fates of a young man and a young woman who were never supposed to meet. Viz states that the story revolves around social media.

Yokota launched the 10-volume Straighten Up! Welcome to Shika High's Competitive Dance Club (Sesuji wo Pin! to ~Shikakō Kyōgi Dance-bu e Yōkoso~) ballroom dancing manga in Weekly Shonen Jump in May 2015, and ended the series in February. Viz Media's digital version of Weekly Shonen Jump previewed the first three chapters in English.

Date and Kento Shimoyama published the one-volume Tokyo Wonder Boys soccer manga in Weekly Shonen Jump from March through May 2014.
