posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Haruka Tōjō will perform the anime's opening theme song "Blue Bud Blue." Regarding the song, Tōjō commented, "I took the feeling of Yuma's confused heart and the true feelings hiding behind Hotaru's smile, smashed them in my own way, and applied it to the song."
The anime will premiere on Tokyo MX 1, AT-X, and the streaming services Abema TV, GYAO!, Nico Nico Video, Hikari TV, Video Market, Rakuten Showtime, FOD, and Amazon Video on July 5. Tokyo MX 2, BS11, DMM.com, d Anime Store, and U-NEXT will premiere the anime at later dates.
The original manga's fifth volume will have a special edition that bundles a drama CD by the television anime's cast on July 18. Kodama penned an original plot for the drama, which Words in Stereo turned into the drama's script. Hisayoshi Hirasawa is the chief director and sound director of the drama, and cloud22 produced the sound.
The anime's official website has the text blurb, "We have a secret we can't tell our boyfriends." Seven Seas publishes the manga in North America, and it describes the story:
Yuma and Hotaru have been friends since childhood. It is only natural that when Yuma is nervous about her new boyfriend, she asks Hotaru along with her boyfriend for a double date. But when Hotaru offers herself to Yuma as "practice," both girls realize that they're more interested in each other than they are in their own boyfriends.
With boyfriends in the foreground but a secret, passionate tryst in the background, will Yuma and Hotaru try to forget what happened between them or have they fallen into a trap of true love and betrayal?
Hisayoshi Hirasawa (OZMAFIA!!, Kiitaro's yokai picture diary, Miss Bernard said.) is credited as chief director for the anime at Creators in Pack. WORDS in STEREO (Kiitaro's yokai picture diary) and Yūichi Uchibori (Miss Bernard said.) are writing the script. Masaru Kawashima (Soul Eater, Penguindrum, Kiznaiver key animation) is designing the characters.
Ai Kakuma plays the protagonist Yuma Okasaki, and Hiromi Igarashi plays her childhood friend Hotaru Mizushina. Daisuke Ono plays Fujiwara, Hotaru's boyfriend who suspects the relationship between Hotaru and Yuma. Ryota Ohsaka plays Takeda, Yuma's boyfriend.
Kodama began the series in 2014 in Ichijinsha's Comic Yuri Hime magazine. Ichijinsha published the fourth compiled book volume on April 18. Seven Seas released the third volume on April 11.
