Two album releases from the Kemono Friends anime – the Japari Café character song album and the anime's original soundtrack – ranked #1 and #2, respectively, on Oricon's weekly album chart for the June 5-11 week. This is the first time in the chart's history that two albums related to the same anime have taken the top two places on the album chart in the same week.
The official YouTube channel of the anime is streaming promotional videos for both albums.
Both albums shipped in Japan on June 7.
The Japari Café album contains the original voice drama "Japari Mangari" scripted by the anime's director TATSUKI, as well as a new "Kemono Parade ~Japari Park Memorial~" song performed by Kaban (Aya Uchida) and Dōbutsu Biscuit x PPP and written by Mine Yoshizaki. The album also contains a version of the anime's opening theme song "Yōkoso Japari Park e" (Welcome to Japari Park) that includes Kaban. The original soundtrack album contains a total of 28 tracks.
The 12-episode Kemono Friends television anime premiered on TV Tokyo and TV Osaka on January 10 and ended on March 28. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired. The anime received an unofficial "episode 12.1" that was not part of the new screen project.
Nexon's original app game launched in early 2016 and ended service on December 14 — before the anime even premiered. Nexon announced in February that the app would not return despite the anime's popularity, but a spokesperson for Nexon later stated that the return of the smartphone app "is possible." In the RPG, animals around the world have transformed into girls and players could recruit them into their party for battle.
Bushiroad is developing multiple Kemono Friends games, including a brand-new game for smartphones slated for this summer. It is also inspiring a stage play that will run from Wednesday to Sunday. The anime is getting "original content" on TV Tokyo's new AniTele app, which launched on April 1. A "new screen project" for Kemono Friends was announced in March.
