Philippines' TAG Channel to Air your name., A Silent Voice, Death Note Sequel Film

Channel launched in October, airs Filipino-dubbed films

Philippine movie channel TAG began airing a commercial last week, revealing that it will air Makoto Shinkai's your name. and Naoko Yamada's A Silent Voice anime films, as well as the Death Note Light up the NEW world live-action film.

ABS-CBN launched the TAG channel last October. The channel airs Hollywood and Asian films with Filipino dubs. ABS-CBN also owns the HERO TV anime channel, which airs Filipino-dubbed anime.

your name. opened in the Philippines in December. The film has earned a cumulative 24.94 billion yen (about US$226 million) in the Japanese box office as of June 4. The film is the #4 highest-earning film of all time in the Japanese box office chart, just below Frozen at #3 with 25.5 billion yen (about US$232 million).

A Silent Voice opened in the Philippines on May 10. The film earned 2.3 billion yen in Japan, and was the 19th highest-grossing film released in Japan in 2016. The film surpassed the box office earnings of Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie Part 3: Rebellion, which earned a total of 2.08 billion yen during its theatrical run in Japan when it opened in October 2013. A Silent Voice also surpassed the earnings of the K-ON! anime film, similarly animated by Kyoto Animation and directed by Naoko Yamada, which earned 1.9 billion yen at the box office in 2011.

Death Note Light up the NEW world opened in the Philippines on March 15. The film topped the Japanese box office in its first weekend last October, ending the your name. anime film's nine-week streak. The film opened on 342 screens, earning 458,645,800 yen (about US$4.37 million) during its opening weekend and selling 342,309 tickets.
