Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (Is the order a rabbit?, Tantei Opera Milky Holmes, Yatterman Night) is handling the series composition. Itsuko Takeda (Ristorante Paradiso, Level E, Blue Drop) is the character designer and Kumiko Tokunaga (2nd season of Kingdom) is the sub-character designer. Crunchyroll describes the series:
In a world where magic is everything, Asta and Yuno are both found abandoned at a church on the same day. While Yuno is gifted with exceptional magical powers, Asta is the only one in this world without any. At the age of fifteen, both receive grimoires, magic books that amplify their holder's magic. Asta's is a rare Grimoire of Anti-Magic that negates and repels his opponent's spells. Being opposite but good rivals, Yuno and Asta are ready for the hardest of challenges to achieve their common dream: to be the Wizard King. Giving up is never an option!
Tabata began the series in Weekly Shonen Jump in February 2015. Viz Media publishes the manga in North America digitally in its Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, and also in print. The manga inspired an event anime that screened in Japan in November and December. The event anime then shipped on DVD with the manga's 11th volume on May 2.
