M&C! Licenses Tig-Hug Planet, Queens Quality Manga

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Both manga slated to begin release on August 16

Indonesian publisher M&C! announced on Tuesday that it has licensed Amu Meguro's Tig-Hug Planet manga and Kyousuke Motomi's Queens Quality manga. M&C! will begin publishing both manga on August 16.

Tig-Hug Planet centers on Eri, a girl who is extremely responsible and independent. One day, a transfer student named Nokina arrives in her class. When she sees that Nokina is socially awkward and believes in weird things like the vending machine being operated by little people inside, Eri volunteers herself to take care of the boy.

Meguro launched the manga in Shueisha's Bessatsu Margaret magazine in 2011, and ended it in 2012. Shueisha published the manga's one compiled book volume in 2012. The book also contains a short story titled "Kirai, Suki?" Tig-Hug Planet is a reworked version of a similar manga short titled "Kimi to Hatsukoi" that appeared in Meguro's earlier Mako to Aki-chan no Koigokoro short manga collection.

Meguro began the Honey series in Shueisha's Bessatsu Margaret magazine in August 2012 and ended the series in November 2015. Shueisha published the eighth and final compiled volume in December 2015. The series was ranked as one of Japanese Bookstore Employees' top recommended comics for 2014. The manga is inspiring a live-action film that is slated to open in Japan in spring 2018.

Queens Quality is a sequel to Motomi's earlier QQ Sweeper manga. The issue of Shogakukan's Betsucomi magazine that revealed the manga describes the manga's story:

When the secret of the girl who was sealed is unlocked, her monochrome daily life is transformed into a vivid one. Those two from 'QQ Sweeper' will develop in a new battle, a new stage, and a new love!!

Motomi launched the manga in Betsucomi in July 2015. Shogakukan published the manga's fourth compiled book volume on March 24.

Motomi launched the original QQ Sweeper series in Betsucomi in March 2014, and ended it in May 2015, starting Queens Quality only two months afterward. Shogakukan published three compiled book volumes for the series. M&C! licensed the manga and published the third and final volume last November. M&C! also published all volumes of Motomi's Electric Daisy (Dengeki Daisy) and Love Arrow (Purikyū) manga.
