Viz Media to Release My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Spinoff Manga Digitally

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Spinoff follows crime-fighting quirk holders without approval to fight evil

Viz Media announced at its Shonen Jump panel at Comic-Con International on Friday that it will release Hideyuki Furuhashi and Court Betten's My Hero Academia: Vigilantes (Vigilante: Boku no Hero Academia Illegals) manga digitally on its Shonen Jump website starting on August 7. Viz Media will release new chapters weekly until the manga catches up with the Japan release. Afterward, the company will publish one new chapter each month, similarly to Japan.

Viz Media describes the manga, which is a spinoff of Kōhei Horikoshi's My Hero Academia manga:

In a world where 80 percent of the population has super powers, "Heroes" are chosen ones, celebrated and authorized to use their innate powers to serve society. But not everyone can earn or be given the title of Hero, and those who use their powers without society's approval to fight evil are known by another name - Vigilantes!

Furuhashi (K: Dog & Cat) and Court Betten (Harukaze Bitter Bop, Tokyo Girls Destruction) launched the manga in Shueisha's Shonen Jump GIGA magazine in August 2016, and the manga then relaunched on the Shonen Jump+ online manga app in December. The manga's first volume shipped in Japan on April 4, and the second volume will ship on September 4.
