Daisuki Ends Anime Streaming Service in October

Anime studios, production companies launched service in 2013

Anime Consortium Japan's streaming service Daisuki announced on Tuesday that it will end its service on October 31. Even with the service's closure, however, the free Dragon Ball Super simulcast will still be available. Further details about streaming Dragon Ball Super will be revealed at a later time.

Daisuki also announced its schedule for the upcoming months before the service shuts down. Daisuki Next will ends its service on September 29. The Daisuki app will no longer be available for download on October 2. Daisuki's social networking accounts will close down on December 15. The final monthly billing for premium membership was on June 30, though members who have not cancelled their membership will have free premium membership until October 31.

Daisuki streamed complete series and simulcasted recent anime such as Eromanga Sensei and Granblue Fantasy. The service previously streamed exclusive titles such as Mobile Suit Gundam 00 and other Gundam series, though a number of titles were dropped at the end of June.

Anime studios and production companies Aniplex, Sunrise, Toei Animation, TMS Entertainment, Nihon Ad Systems (NAS), Dentsu, and Asatsu-DK (ADK) collaborated to launch the service in April 2013. The streaming service merged with the Anime Consortium Japan (ACJ) when the ACJ was established in 2014. Bandai Namco Holdings acquired full ownership of the ACJ in March.
