posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Both series available in Japanese with English subtitles

Crunchyroll has added the first season of the Kingdom television anime series and the Cheer Boys!! television anime to its catalog. Both series are available in Japanese with English subtitles.

The first anime series based on Yasuhisa Hara's Kingdom historical manga premiered in June 2012 and Funimation streamed the series as it aired in Japan.

The second anime series ran for 39 episodes from 2013-2014. Funimation released both seasons on DVD.

Funimation describes the story:

When low-born servant boys, Piao and Xin, set out to become the world's greatest war generals they quickly find themselves caught up in a violent struggle between two noblemen plotting to overthrow the King.

After Piao is killed protecting the rightful ruler of the kingdom of Qin, Xin sets out on a campaign for revenge that leads him straight into the fire of war. Now, with a target on his back and an army of enemies standing in his way, it will be up to a boy with no name and a young king without a throne to return order to their war-torn country in this historical action-drama based on the Tezuka Award-winning manga.

The Cheer Boys!! (Cheer Danshi!!) television anime series, which is based on Ryō Asai's novel of the same name, premiered in Japan in July 2016. Funimation streamed the series with English subtitles as it aired in Japan. The company will release its Blu-ray Disc and DVD combo packs for the series on November 7.

Funimation describes the story:

Haruki Bandou was born into a family of Judo marital artists and expected to continue the family legacy. But he's about to trade Judo for…cheerleading?! When his childhood friend Kazuma Hashimoto invites him to join the BREAKERS, a male cheerleading club, Haru finds himself amongst a quirky group of boys. Can this squad of slightly odd and cute members make a breakthrough in college athletics?

Two OVAs for the series shipped with the fourth DVD and Blu-ray Disc volume of the anime in Japan on December 22.
