Vocaloid Song 'Torinoko City' Inspires Live-Action Film
posted on by Karen Ressler
A teaser website for a live-action film inspired by 40mP's Vocaloid song "Torinoko City" opened on Thursday. Hiroki Yamaguchi (Messiah, Chimamire Sukeban Chainsaw) is directing the film and writing the script with Ayumi Yokoyama. 40mP is composing the music for the film.

The cast includes Nina Yamazaki, Yūki Tamaki, Shōta Takasaki, and Yūji Nakamura, among others. The staff plan to launch a crowdfunding campaign to support the film this fall.
Vocaloid producer 40mP ("Karakuri Pierrot") composed and illustrated the original loneliness-themed Hatsune Miku song. The original version (first video below) debuted in July 2010, and 40mP later released a remake (second video below).
Other songs created with Vocaloid software, including "Nou Shou Sakuretsu Girl" and "Sakura no Ame," have also inspired live-action films.
