Episode 1 English dub cast revealed

FUNimation Entertainment announced the main English dub cast for The Ancient Magus' Bride on Tuesday. The anime stars Dani Chambers as Chise Hatori and Brian Mathis as Elias Ainsworth. Other cast members from episode one include Garret Storms as Seth Noel, Rachel Glass as Silver Lady, and Tia Ballard and Jade.

Kyle Phillips is directing the dub with ADR engineer Jeremy Woods, scriptwriter Bonny Clinkenbeard, and mixing engineer Nathanael Harrison.

Funimation previously streamed a dub preview:

The dub will premiere on Funimation's streaming service on October 30 at 4:00 p.m. EDT. The series premiered in Japan on October 7 and Crunchyroll is streaming the series in Japanese with English subtitles.

Funimation describes the story:

The award-winning manga comes to life with a highly anticipated anime series! Suffering a tragic childhood and sold at an auction, Chise Hatori has little hope for a better life. But when a mysterious sorcerer named Elias takes interest in her aptitude for magic, he decides to make her his apprentice—and his bride.

The first episode of The Ancient Magus' Bride: Those Awaiting a Star (Mahō Tsukai no Yome: Hoshi Matsu Hito) prequel OVA series had a two-week run in eight theaters throughout Japan in August 2016. The episode was later bundled with the sixth compiled volume of Kore Yamazaki's original manga series in December. The second part opened in seven Japanese theaters on February 4, and shipped with the seventh manga volume on March 10. The third episode opened in theaters in Japan for a two-week limited screening starting on August 19. The screening event also showed the first episode of the TV anime series. The third part will later ship with the eighth volume of the manga on Saturday. The Blu-ray Disc of the anime will ship this winter. Crunchyroll is streaming the first two parts of the anime.

Most of the staff from the prequel anime are returning for the television anime. Norihiro Naganuma is directing the anime at Wit Studio, and he is also in charge of the series scripts. Aya Takaha is penning the scripts. Hirotaka Katō is adapting the character designs for animation. Junichi Matsumoto is composing the music, and Flying Dog is producing the music in collaboration with BASiLiCA.

Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the manga in North America.
