Akihisa Shiono, Yuito Obara, Atomu Mizuishi, Yasukaze Motomiya join February 24 film

The official website for the live-action film of Shoko Hidaka's Does The Flower Blossom? (Hana wa Saku ka?) boys-love manga revealed new cast and the film's poster visual on Tuesday.

The newly revealed cast includes:

  • Akihisa Shiono as Kōki Fujimoto, Yōichi's friend from college who is interested in him
  • Yuito Obara as Shōta Minagawa, one of Yōichi's cousins who lives with him
  • Atomu Mizuishi as Takeo Iwasaki, another of Yōichi's cousins who lives with him
  • Yasukaze Motomiya as Keppei Yoshitomi, the landlord of the house where Yōichi lives

Tsurugi Watanabe (seen right in photograph below) will play Yōichi Minagawa in his first film role. Kōsei Amano (Kamen Rider Blade's Kamen Rider Garren, Sailor Moon stage musical's Tuxedo Mask) will play the character Kazuaki Sakurai (left), the older salaryman that Yōichi is attracted to.

The film opens on February 24. Kaori Tanimoto is directing the film, with a script by Natsuko Takahashi.

Hidaka debuted the manga in 2009 and Gentosha published the series in five compiled volumes. Digital Manga Publishing licensed the first three volumes under its Juné imprint in 2012 and has thus far released the first two volumes. Digital Manga describes the story:

Sakurai Kazuaki. At age 38, he's single, overworked, and starting to feel a bit miserable about his life. One day a young college guy at a train station bumps into Sakurai and wreks his magazine. Fate — or coincidence — has it, Minagawa happens to own the same magazine at home, and instead of apologizing for the damaged item, he invites Sakurai to his house and replaces it with his copy. "What an arrogant young kid he is!" Sakurai dislikes him immediately. Yet, despite feeling annoyed and frustrated by Minagawa's rude and arrogant behavior, Sakurai soon finds himself a frequent visitor of the secluded household...
