The official website for the Hataraku Oniisan! (Working Buddies!) television anime revealed last Wednesday that Den Terayama will launch the Itsuka Hataraku Oniisan! spinoff manga in the 53rd issue of Kadokawa's Comic Dengeki DaiohG magazine on January 27. The manga will center on the college lives of Hachitani and Nezaen, who are classmates of Tapio and Kuehiko. (Note: The romanizations of the new character names are not confirmed.)
The Hataraku Oniisan! (Working Buddies!) series of five-minute anime shorts will premiere on Tokyo MX on January 5 at 9:54 p.m., and on BS Fuji on January 9 at 11:55 p.m.

The story centers around the cheerful orange tabby cat Tapio Chatorazawa and the pessimistic Russian blue Kuehiko Roshihara. The two study in the same college, and also work together on various odd jobs.
The cast includes:

Takuya Mizoguchi as Kuehiko Roshihara
Tomokazu Sugita as The Animal With the Ineffable Name
Yoshiki Usa (Wooser's Hand-to-Mouth Life) is credited as the original creator. Tomoya Takashima (Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories, Kagewani) is directing the anime at Tomovies. Hiromu Kumamoto, who also worked on Takashima's previous two anime, is the scriptwriter for the anime. Haruka Oda is the character designer. R.O.N is composing the music.
DearDream, the in-story male idol unit from the Dream Festival! franchise (of which Tomita and Mizoguchi are members), will perform the anime's theme song.
