Anime Boston to Host Former Ghibli Production Coordinator Hirokatsu Kihara, Producer Michihiko Suwa

Convention to take place March 30-April 1

The Anime Boston convention announced on Monday and Wednesday that it will host former Studio Ghibli production desk Hirokatsu Kihara and producer Michihiko Suwa.

Kihara has served behind the production desk as coordinator on such Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli films as My Neighbor Totoro, Laputa: Castle in the Sky, and Kiki's Delivery Service. He also served as production desk or production runner on other anime such as Kanamemo, Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu: Purezza, Outbreak Company, Lady Jewelpet, In Search of the Lost Future, My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU TOO!, and This Art Club Has a Problem!. He also wrote the story for the Graduale der Wolken manga. Kihara is also known today as a writer of horror stories, working on the Tales of Terror from Tokyo and All Over Japan film series, and has written his own series of horror books.

Suwa has been involved in the anime industry for more than 35 years. He has worked on Inuyasha, Detective Conan (Case Closed), Lupin III, Magic Knight Rayearth, City Hunter, The File of Young Kindaichi, Black Jack, Yawara! A Fashionable Judo Girl, Angel Heart, Kekkaishi, and more.

Anime Boston will take place at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, Massachusetts on March 30-April 1. The event's other guests include rock band FLOW, singer-songwriter Asaka, SUNRISE senior managing director Hideyuki Tomioka, and screenwriter Katsuyuki Sumizawa.
