5th Touken Ranbu Stage Musical Debuts in March

Title, visual, cast revealed for play running from March to May

The official website of the stage musical adaptations of the Touken Ranbu franchise revealed the title, visual, and cast for the fifth stage musical in the franchise. The musical is titled Touken Ranbu - Musubi no Hibiki, Hajimari no Ne (Touken Ranbu - The Resonance of Endings, The Sound of Beginnings).

The musical will run at the Nihon Seinenkan Hall in Tokyo from March 24 to April 1, at the Umeda Arts Theater Osaka from April 8 to April 15, and at the Tokyo Dome City Hall in Tokyo from April 20 to May 6.

The cast includes:

  • Yūki Torigoe as Yamatonokami Yasusada
  • Shōtarō Arisawa as Izuminokami Kanesada
  • Shin Tamura as Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki
  • Shōgo Sakamoto as Horikawa Kunihiro
  • Yū Imari as Nagasone Kotetsu
  • Haruki Kiyama as Tomogata Naginata

Other cast members include Tomoyuki Tagaki, Tatsumi Tomoaki, Takeshi Niihara, Ray Fujita, Daisuke Iwasaki, Kazuki Muranaka, Ryota Ōno, Keita Yamaguchi, Ken Aoki, Kazuki Satō, Kō Miyao, Akira Takeishi, Kōki Sasaki, Yūsuke Ichikawa, Yasuhiro Date, Hisato Kojima, Seiya Kurimoto, Hiroaki Shimō, Issei Shimojima, Hiroaki Harumoto, Naoya Matsumoto, and Takumi Yamaguchi.

Isamu Kayano is directing the musical, with a script by Chūji Mikasano. Shinnosuke Motoyama is in charge of choreography and staging.

Touken Ranbu - Atsukashiyama Ibun, the first stage musical, held its first trial performance in 2015, with its debut run held from May to June 2016. The second musical, Touken Ranbu - Bakumatsu Tenrōden, ran from September to October 2016, with a final performance in Tokyo in November 2016. Tōken Ranbu Mihotose no Komoriuta, the franchise's third stage musical, ran from March to April 2017. Touken Ranbu - Tsuwamono Domo ga Yume no Ato, the fourth stage musical, debuted in December.

The first stage play will hold its first European performance in Paris on July 15 as part of the Japonisme 2018 event.

The franchise is also inspiring a separate series of stage plays. The fourth stage play ran from December 15-29, with a fifth stage play slated for June.
