Story of 3 people restarting life through ramen opened in Japan on Saturday

Entertainment news website Natalie began streaming a trailer on Friday for the live-action film adaptation of Akiteru Hayashi's Ramen Kuitee! (I Want to Eat Ramen!) manga. The film opened in Japan on Saturday. The video previews H△G's insert song "Sayonara Girl."

The manga's story centers on a ramen shop owner who decides to close his shop after his wife passes away; a food critic who gets stranded in the mountainous area of Xinjiang, China while doing research; and a female high school student who contemplates suicide due to the cruelty of her classmates. A bowl of ramen links them together as they restart their lives.

Yurika Nakamura stars in the film as high school student Marie who starts working on revitalizing her grandfather's ramen shop. Wakana Aoi plays Marie's close friend Kojima, and Renji Ishibashi plays Marie's grandfather. Jin Katagiri plays the stranded food critic.

Yūki Kumagai directed the film and wrote the script. Oh Joon Sung composed the music.

Hayashi launched the manga on the Kodansha Comic Plus website in 2014, and it launched in Kodansha's MoAE in 2015. The publisher released the series in two compiled book volumes in 2015.
