Acclaimed television and voice actor David Ogden Stiers passed away due to bladder cancer at his home in Newport, Oregon on Saturday morning. He was 75.

Stiers was born in Peoria, Illinois in 1942. Stiers is best known for his television roles such as Major Charles Emerson Winchester III during his Emmy-nominated 1977-1983 run on the wartime comedy M*A*S*H, and Reverend Gene Purdy on the television version of Stephen King's novel The Dead Zone.

Stiers also enjoyed a prolific voice-acting career, notably as Cogsworth and the narrator in Disney's 1991 animated Beauty and the Beast film, and Dr. Jumba Jookiba in Disney's 2002 animated Lilo & Stitch film. In the English dubs of Studio Ghibli anime films, he voiced Grandpa Piccolo in Hayao Miyazaki's Porco Rosso, Kamaji in Miyazaki's Spirited Away, and the narrator in Isao Takahata's My Neighbors the Yamadas. He also reprised his Cogsworth and Jumba Jookiba roles in Square Enix's Kingdom Hearts games.
