Ryukishi07 (Higurashi: When They Cry series creator) and Itaru Hinoue (Clannad character designer) announced at a press event on Thursday that they are producing a completely new game titled Sangeki Sandbox (Tragic Sandbox) that is slated for release in 2019. Ryukishi07 is providing the scenario, and Hinoue is designing the characters. The staff will announce more information about the game in the future.
The event also announced that Ryukishi07 and 07th Expansion's Higurashi: When They Cry Hou (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Hō) dōjin visual novel will get a Nintendo Switch port that will ship on July 26. Entergram began streaming a promotional video for the release.
The release will include 19 scenarios from Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Sui, as well as three new scenarios. A limited-edition release will bundle a drama CD and visual book for 9,980 yen (about US$95). The regular physical version will cost 7,980 yen (about US$76), and the digital version will cost 6,980 yen (about US$66).
Ryūkishi07 and his doujin circle 07th Expansion released the game for PC in Japan in 2014 as a "thank you" to series fans (the kanji used for Hō is used in the word Hōnō, "dedication"). The game includes the previously unreleased work "Hinamizawa Teiryūjo" (Hinamizawa Bus Stop) that was a precursor to the Higurashi no Naku Koro ni series, the Higurashi Outbreak original story, and the Higurashi Outbreak: Kamikanshi-hen sequel. MangaGamer released the game in English beginning in 2015.
In addition, the event announced that the Umineko no Naku Koro ni ~Majo to Suiri no Rondo~ (Umineko no Naku Koro ni: Rondo of the Witch and Reasoning) and Umineko no Naku Koro ni Chiru ~Shinjitsu to Gensō no Nocturne~ (Umineko no Naku Koro ni Chiru: Nocturne of Truth and Illusion) PlayStation 3 games will get an all-in-one package release similar to Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Sui.
