Game to launch for PS4, PC

Bandai Namco Entertainment began streaming a second trailer for its God Eater 3 game on Sunday. The game will be available on PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam. The trailer features a cutscene and battle gameplay involving the protagonist and new character, Yūgo Pennywort (voiced by Tomokazu Seki).

Bandai Namco Entertainment Asia began streaming the same video with English subtitles on Thursday.

Bandai Namco Entertainment describes God Eater 3:

Earth no longer resembles the home we know of now. The Aragami, terrifying beasts that live only to consume, are carving a path of destruction and misery wherever they are encountered. To combat this threat an elite group of heroes known as God Eaters are called upon to save humanity. God Eaters are individuals who have been bestowed upon them the ability to wield powerful new God Arcs, special weapons powered by Oracle Cells and the only known weapons capable of destroying the monstrous Aragami. However, another mission is coming into focus; something is happening to the God Eaters and the line between light and dark has never been so thin. It's time to start breaking free from the cursed shackles that bind the souls of the God Eaters as the battle rages on around them.

Bandai Namco Entertainment America has confirmed that it will release the game in the Americas.

Bandai Namco Entertainment is also planning to launch a separate God Eater Resonant Ops smartphone game in Japan this spring. The story moves the setting "at long last" toward the Fenrir Headquarters, four years after God Eater 2 Rage Burst in the year 2078.

The smartphone game is inspiring a "short anime project" titled "God Eater Resonantoka Gekijō." (God Eater Reso-Something-or-Other Theater). Paraco Sasahara is directing the anime and is also handling the series composition. Passione and Creators in Pack are animating the series, and DMM.futureworks is credited with animation cooperation. Katsuzo Hirata is the animation character designer, and Taichi Hatanaka is the animation producer.

The God Eater game franchise inspired a 13-episode television anime series in 2015. Aniplex of America released the anime with an English dub on Blu-ray Disc in two sets in November 2016 and January 2017.

Update: Bandai Namco Entertainment America began streaming the same trailer, confirming the game's PlayStation 4 and PC release in the Americas.

Disclosure: Bandai Namco Filmworks Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Bandai Namco Holdings Inc., is a non-controlling, minority shareholder in Anime News Network Inc.
