Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions! Take On Me Film's English-, Chinese-Subtitled Videos Posted

Southeast Asian film distributor Purple Plan began streaming an English- and Chinese-subtitled trailer and teaser video last Wednesday and on Monday for its screening of Kyoto Animation's Eiga Chūnibyō demo Koi ga Shitai! Take On Me (Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions! the Movie: Take On Me), the new film in the Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions! (Chūnibyō demo Koi ga Shitai!) franchise. The film opens in Singapore on Thursday.

The film opened in Japan on January 6. The film opened at #6 in the Japanese box office, and earned 70,422,300 yen (about US$634,500) in its first weekend. The film had earned a cumulative total of 193,264,100 yen (about US$1.74 million) as of January 21.

In the film, Rikka is now a third-year student, but she still has "chunibyo" syndrome. University entrance exams loom on the horizon, and it's spring break, and Yūta and Rikka are together as usual. One day, Rikka's older sister Tōka declares that she's going to take Rikka to Italy with her, as Tōka is moving to Italy for work and she thinks they should move together as a family. Yūta understands Tōka's opinion, but thinks that at this rate he and Rikka will be separated. Shinka and the other members suggest that Yūta and Rikka should "elope," and thus sets the stage for Yūta and Rikka's travels throughout Japan in their escape drama.

Torako is credited with the film's original work. Tatsuya Ishihara returned to direct the film at Kyoto Animation. Jukki Hanada also returned to write the script, and Kazumi Ikeda returned to design the characters. Nijine also returned to compose the music. Shochiku distributed the film. ZAQ performed the film's theme song "Journey."

The 12-episode Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions! television anime series premiered in Japan in October 2012. The Love, Chunibyo, & Other Delusions: Rikka Takanashi Version anime film then opened in Japan in September 2013, followed by the 12-episode sequel television series Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions! -Heart Throb-, which premiered in Japan in January 2014.

The franchise also inspired the Chūnibyō demo Koi ga Shitai! Lite and Chūnibyō demo Koi ga Shitai! Ren Lite net anime series, as well as the Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions: Depth of Field - Love and Hate Theater OVA.
