Juni Taisen: Zodiac War Manga to End in 4th Volume

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Manga launched last September; Viz Media publishes manga digitally

The third volume of Akira Akatsuki's Juni Taisen: Zodiac War manga revealed on Wednesday that the manga's fourth volume will be the last. The fourth volume is slated to ship in Japan on July 4.

Viz Media is releasing the manga online for free, and also released the original novel. Viz Media describes the story:

Twelve warriors enter a death match, but only one can survive to win the ultimate prize.

Rampage. Weep. Kill. Every 12 years, the 12 signs of the Chinese zodiac take the form of warriors and engage in the ultimate battle royal. They face one another in battles to the death, using all the powers of their star signs, and the sole survivor is granted the ultimate prize—a wish. Any wish.

The manga adapts writer NisiOisin (Monogatari Series, Medaka Box) and illustrator Hikaru Nakamura's (Saint Young Men, Arakawa Under the Bridge) light novel Jūni Taisen: Zodiac Warriors. The manga launched on Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ app and website last September.

The light novel also inspired a television anime adaptation that premiered last October. Crunchyroll streamed the series, and Funimation streamed an English dub.

NisiOisin and Nakamura published the novel in May 2015. Viz Media released the novel in hardcover format in October. A sequel novel titled Juni Taisen Tai Juni Taisen (Zodiac War Versus Zodiac War) shipped in Japan last December.
