posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
PS4, PS Vita game launches in Japan on April 19 with Western, Asian release planned

Kadokawa Games began streaming a "final trailer" on Thursday for the Metal Max Xeno PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita game. The video previews the game's main characters and battle gameplay.

The game will ship in Japan on April 19. Kadokawa Games also plans to release the game in Asia and the West.

The game will retail in Japan for 6,980 yen (about US$65) for the physical version and 6,480 yen (US$60) for the digital version. The game's limited edition retails for 10,000 yen (US$93), and the digital premium edition retails for 7,852 yen (US$73). The limited edition includes a book, a three-disc 25th anniversary soundtrack, and three in-game items. The digital premium edition comes with a digital edition of the three-disc soundtrack, a theme for either PS4 or PS Vita, and three in-game items.

The story of Metal Max Xeno takes place several decades after past entries in the series, and follows humans fighting for survival against a new type of mechanical monster in the ruins of what was once Tokyo. The game is celebrating the franchise's 25th anniversary.

The first Metal Max post-apocalyptic role-playing game was released in 1991, followed by Metal Max 2 in 1993. Atlus released one of the franchise installments, Metal Saga, in for North America in 2006, but Metal Max Xeno will be the first game with the Metal Max title to launch overseas.
