Kenichi Sonoda's 'Project [B.B]' Anime Confirmed as 'Project Bean Bandit'
posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
The official Twitter account for Kenichi Sonoda's "Project [B.B]" anime revealed on Monday that the "[B.B]" in the anime's title stands for "Bean Bandit," the name of the protagonist of Sonoda's Riding Bean manga.
Chicago's Anime Central convention will premiere a preview of the project this May. Sonoda will appear at the event with animation director and producer Shuzilow.HA (Shujirou Hamakawa) and composer Marco D'Ambrosio. The convention previously announced that the premiere will reveal the meaning of the "[B.B]" in the anime's title. Anime Central previously announced that it will host a Gunsmith Cats reboot anime short, but changed it afterward to a "trailer screening" of Sonoda's "Project [B.B]."
Animation studio Passione (Rokka: Braves of the Six Flowers, Citrus) is working on the project. The project's Twitter account revealed key frames earlier this month.
The project is a crossover between Sonoda's action works, such as Gunsmith Cats and Riding Bean. The key frames above appear to show Minnie May Hopkins from Gunsmith Cats. The staff also previously shared concept art for characters who appear to be Bean Bandit and Rally Vincent (with both her Riding Bean and Gunsmith Cats designs).
