Utawarerumono Zan Action Game's Trailer Reveals September 27 Release Date

Tamsoft, AQUAPLUS are developing game for PS4

AQUAPLUS began streaming a trailer for Utawarerumono Zan, its PlayStation 4 action game based on the Utawarerumono franchise, on Friday. The trailer reveals that the game will ship in Japan on September 27.

Tamsoft is working with AQUAPLUS on the game. AQUAPLUS first teased the game last July under the code name "UTZ."

AQUAPLUS is recruiting three scenario writers and 10 3DCG artists for the Utawarerumono project's "second stage."

AQUAPLUS released Leaf's original Utawarerumono adult visual novel for PC in 2002. The adventure simulation game takes place in a world where people have animal ears and tails, and rival generals battle for supremacy. Sting developed a PlayStation 2 port, titled Utawarerumono: Chiriyukumono e no Komoriuta, which AQUAPLUS released in 2006. A PlayStation Portable port debuted in 2009.

The Utawarerumono: Itsuwari no Kamen (Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception) game shipped for PS4, PS3, and PS Vita in Japan in September 2015, and it shipped for PS4 and PS Vita in the West last May. Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth (Utawarerumono: Futari no Hakuoro), the third installment in the Utawarerumono trilogy, debuted in Japan for PS3, PS4, and PS Vita in September 2016. The game shipped for PS4 and PS Vita in the West on September 5.

The original game inspired a 2006 television anime series, a 2007 manga, and a 2009 original video anime series. ADV Films originally licensed the first Utawarerumono television anime, but FUNimation later picked up the license. The television anime adaptation of Utawarerumono: Itsuwari no Kamen premiered in Japan in October 2015. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired in Japan, and Sentai Filmworks released the series on home video.
