Uma Musume Anime's 4th Blu-ray Release Includes 'Completely New Animation'
posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
The official website for the anime portion of Cygames' Uma Musume Pretty Derby project announced the details for the anime's fourth Blu-ray Disc release (titled "Umabako: The Fourth Corner") on Monday. The November 14 release will contain a "completely new animation." It will also contain an original prose story titled "Uma Hanashi" (Horse Talk) with a plot that is not portrayed in the television anime.
The first three volumes each have four television episodes and cost 12,800 yen (about US$115). The fourth release will have only one television episode and the "completely new animation," and still cost the same as the previous three volumes.
The television anime premiered on April 1. Crunchyroll is streaming the series as it airs in Japan.
Kei Oikawa (This Art Club Has a Problem!, Outbreak Company, My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU TOO!) is directing the anime at P.A. Works. Yousuke Kabashima (D.Gray-man Hallow, Lord Marksman and Vanadis) is the character designer and chief animation director. Masafumi Sugiura (aka Pierre Sugiura, Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru scripts) and Cygames' Akihiro Ishihara are both writing and overseeing the series scripts. UTAMARO movement is composing the music at Lantis.
Cygames' Uma Musume Pretty Derby game is currently in development, with a planned release on iOS and Android in 2018. The game's concept begins with Uma Musume (Horse Girls), girls endowed with excellent running capability, and who aim to become top idols and compete in the national sports entertainment show "Twinkle Series." Players take the role of both teacher and trainer for the girls in the Nihon Uma Musume Training Center Gakuen (Japan Horse Girls Training Center Academy) and help them make their debut.
