Squads of 3 Pokémon explore an island, phone app version slated for June

The Pokemon Company announced during the Pokémon 2018 Video Game Press Conference on Wednesday that the franchise has a new Nintendo Switch game titled Pokémon Quest, which was released today. The game is a free-to-start game that allows players to "face off against wild Pokémon and embark on many exciting expeditions." The game will have a smartphone version in late June.

The game will have Pokémon from the Kanto region, but they will be portrayed in a new cube-like appearance. The game is set in a place known as Tumblecube Island, which is filled with hidden treasures and items. Players control a team of up to three Pokémon to explore the island while fighting other Pokémon, collecting treasure, and befriending new Pokémon. Players can customize the characteristics of their Pokémon, and will be able to use Power Stone items to strengthen them.
