posted on by Jennifer Sherman

The official website for the Hataraku Oniisan! (Working Buddies!) television anime began streaming a new commercial and a promotional video for the series second season, Hataraku Oniisan! no 2!, on Friday. The website also revealed four new guest cast members and the anime's July 6 premiere date.

The new guest cast members are, from left to right in the image below (Note: Romanizations of character names are not confirmed.):

The anime's second season will premiere on Tokyo MX on July 6 at 9:54 p.m., followed by BS Fuji on July 9 at 11:55 p.m.

The first season will ship on DVD and Blu-ray Disc in Japan on June 29. People who pre-order the release in Animate stores in Japan will be able to enter a lottery to receive tickets to attend an event for the anime at the Animate store in Ikebukuro, Tokyo on June 30.

The first season of five-minute anime shorts premiered on January 5, and Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired.

The story centers around the cheerful orange tabby cat Tapio Chatorazawa and the pessimistic Russian blue Kuehiko Roshihara. The two study in the same college, and also work together on various odd jobs.

Yoshiki Usa (Wooser's Hand-to-Mouth Life) is credited as the original creator. Tomoya Takashima (Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories, Kagewani) is directing the anime at Tomovies. Hiromu Kumamoto, who also worked on Takashima's previous two anime, is the scriptwriter for the anime. Haruka Oda is the character designer. R.O.N is composing the music.

DearDream, the in-story male idol unit from the Dream Festival! franchise (of which Tomita and Mizoguchi are members), performed the theme song for the first season.
