Saint Seiya Franchise to Reveal 'New Development' in August

Current season of Saint Seiya: Next Dimension - The Myth of Hades manga also ends

This year's 30th issue of Akita Shoten's Weekly Shōnen Champion announced on Thursday that the October issue of Akita Shoten's Monthly Champion RED magazine will reveal a new development for Masami Kurumada's Saint Seiya franchise on August 18. Kurumada also added that he is planning something that may surprise readers.

Kurumada published the last chapter of the current season of his Saint Seiya: Next Dimension - The Myth of Hades manga in the same issue. The magazine did not announce when the manga will return.

The manga returned from hiatus with the newest season on May 10, after the previous season ended in October.

Kurumada has been serializing the manga since 2006 and Akita Shoten released the 12th volume on May 8.

Kurumada published the original Saint Seiya manga from 1986 to 1990. The manga has inspired a number of television anime, original video anime projects, anime films, and spinoff manga. Netflix announced a new CG anime based on the original manga in August, and the Saint Seiya: Saintia Shō spinoff manga also has an anime in the works. A live-action Hollywood film has also been green-lit.

Viz Media published the original manga in English under the title Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac. Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the Saint Seiya: Saintia Shō manga. ADV Films released Toei Animation's anime adaptation with an English dub under the title Knights of the Zodiac, and later released it unedited under the title Saint Seiya. New Video Group later also released the series on DVD.
