Verizon's go90 Streaming Service Shuts Down on July 31

Site streamed anime from Aniplex of America, Viz Media

Entertainment news website Variety reported on Thursday that Verizon is shutting down its go90 mobile video service on July 31. Oath, the Verizon subsidiary that merged AOL and Yahoo!, has combined go90's operations into its company. Verizon told Variety that the problem with the service was its "inability to achieve scaled distribution."

go90 is part of Verizon's digital media network of video content and platforms, and can be accessed via an app on iOS and Android, or at its official website. go90 does not require fees to stream its content. The service launched almost three years ago.

go90 began exclusively streaming the English dubs of the anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day and God Eater anime starting in October. Aniplex of America also streamed the Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Sword Art Online, Gurren Lagann, and Fate/Zero anime on the service.

The service also began streaming the Ultraman Neos and Ultraseven X television series in October.

Other anime on the service include all four seasons of the Hell Girl anime, and some catalog anime from Viz Media.
