Starly Girls Game App Ends Service

posted on by Karen Ressler
Console game still in the works

The official website for Kadokawa Games' Starly Girls -Episode Starsia- smartphone game announced on Friday that the app will end service on July 27. The announcement noted that the staff has been planning events and improvements for the game, but there were too many obstacles to creating a satisfactory play environment.

The game is no longer available for download on Android and iOS, and in-game currency (Star Badge) sales have ended as of Friday. Unused Star Badges will be refunded in accordance with the law.

The official Twitter account noted that the staff will focus on a console title instead. The Twitter account first announced a console game project in October 2017.

In the "starly girls x G Gear x space next-generation training simulation" game, the player assumes the role of the captain of the super-gravity-cruising ship Asterism. With the vice captain and the Hoshimusu ("Starly Girls"), the player controls the special mobile weapon G Gear (Gravity Gear), "defies the fate of the cosmos, and restores the twinkling of the stars."

The game launched on December 9, 2016. Kadokawa Games is credited with the original concept and production of the anime, while Alpha Games will distribute the anime in China. The game itself is a joint production with the international game company Aeria Games. SNSplus distributes and manages the game in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao, and Southeast Asia. Yoshimi Yasuda is the director of the game, and he is credited with the original story with Kō Kōdo.

Kadokawa and Alpha Games announced plans for an anime adaptation in October 2016, but neither the Twitter account nor the website has updated on the project since.
