posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
2-hour special airs on July 29 in Japan

The official website for Fate/Extra Last Encore, the television anime of the Fate/Extra game, began streaming a promotional video on Friday for the "Illustrias Tendōsetsu" (Illustrias Geocentrism) special. (The video on the official website is region-locked to Japan, a region-free version is below.)

The anime will premiere on Tokyo MX, Gunma TV, Tochigi TV, and BS11 on July 29 at 7:00 p.m. The two-hour special will then air on MBS in two installments on July 29 and August 5 at 26:25 (effectively 2:25 a.m. on July 30 and August 6).

In addition, the special will screen at the "Fate/Grand Order Fes. 2018~3rd Anniversary~" event, which will be held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba on July 28-29. The screening will be held on July 28, and four main cast members will also participate in a talk event.

The website revealed the special in April after teasing the broadcast in December.

The main 10-episode television anime series premiered on January 27, and is exclusively streaming on Netflix in Japan. The anime's subtitle is "Oblitus Chidōsetsu" (Oblitus Heliocentrism). Netflix began streaming the anime outside of Japan on June 30.

Akiyuki Simbo (March comes in like a lion, Puella Magi Madoka Magica) is the chief director of the anime at the studio SHAFT. Yukihiro Miyamoto (Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Arakawa Under the Bridge) is serving as series director. Along with Hiroki Yamamura, Masaaki Takiyama (Tokyo ESP, Nyaruko: Crawling with Love!) is designing the characters based on Rco Wada's (Wadarco) original designs and serving as chief animation director. Type-Moon and Marvelous are credited for the original game and original Fate/stay night creator Kinoko Nasu is handling series composition. Satoru Kousaki (Bakemonogatari, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya) is composing the music.

Marvelous Entertainment and Type-Moon released the Fate/Extra PlayStation Portable game in Japan in 2010. Aksys Games released the game in North America in November 2011. The Fate/Extra CCC companion game shipped in Japan on the PSP in March 2013.
