Convention takes place in Pasay City on July 27-29

Metro Manila convention AsiaPOP Comicon Manila announced on Thursday that Netflix will bring Castlevania animated series producer Adi Shankar and Godzilla anime film trilogy producer Takashi Yoshizawa as guests for the event. The producers will attend a panel to discuss their respective projects.

Adi Shankar announced in 2015 that he was working with Fred Seibert and Kevin Kolde of Frederator Studios on an animated mini-series based on Konami's Castlevania game series. In particular, the story is based on the 1989 NES/Famicom game Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse. The game is set in 1476, and Dracula has Europe under his grip. Trevor Belmont journeys in an attempt to defeat Dracula, and enlists the sorceress Sypha Belnades, the pirate Grant Danasty, and Dracula's own half-vampire son, Alucard.

The first four-episode season premiered worldwide on Netflix in July 2017. The second season will premiere in October. A third season is in the works.

Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters (Godzilla: Kaijū Wakusei), the first film in the Godzilla film trilogy, opened in Japan on November 17. Netflix began streaming the film worldwide on January 17.

The second film in the trilogy, Godzilla: Kessen Kidō Zōshoku Toshi (Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle), opened in Japan on May 18, and ranked at #8 in its opening weekend at the box office.

Godzilla: Hoshi wo Kū Mono (Stareater) will open in Japan in November.

Kobun Shizuno (Detective Conan: The Darkest Nightmare and other Detective Conan movies, Fist of the North Star: The Legend of Kenshirô, Fist of the North Star: The Legend of Toki) and Hiroyuki Seshita (Ajin, Knights of Sidonia) are directing the films at Polygon Pictures. Gen Urobuchi (Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Fate/Zero, Psycho-Pass) of Nitroplus is credited with the story concept and screenplay. Urobuchi is also responsible for series composition with Yūsuke Kozaki.

AsiaPOP Comicon Manila will take place from July 27 to 29 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
