Animax Asia to Air Blend-S Anime on August 2
posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Animax Asia began streaming a video on Sunday that revealed that it will air the television anime adaptation of Miyuki Nakayama's Blend S four-panel manga beginning on August 2. The channel will air two episodes of the series every Wednesday and Thursday at 8:00 p.m. GMT +8.
The anime premiered in Japan last October.
Ryouji Masuyama (Gurren Lagann Parallel Works' "Drill the Heavens with Your XXX!!!" director, The IDOLM@STER episode director) directed the anime at A-1 Pictures. Go Zappa (Koihime Musō, NAKAIMO - My Little Sister Is Among Them!, Chronicles of the Going Home Club) supervised the series' scripts. Yousuke Okuda (Is the order a rabbit?) designed the characters, and Tomoki Kikuya (Squid Girl, Eromanga Sensei) composed the music.
The manga's story centers on a girl named Maika who gets a job at a cafe where all the waitresses are given certain attributes — such as "tsundere" or "little sister" — to embody while serving customers. The manager asks Maika to be the "Do S" (extreme sadist) waitress, so she will have to adopt a dominant and aggressive persona.
The manga debuted as a guest series in Houbunsha's Manga Time Kirara Carat magazine in 2013, and Nakayama launched it as a regular series in 2014. Houbunsha released the fourth compiled book volume last October.
