Crunchyroll Expo to Host Premiere Screening of Double Decker! Doug & Kirill Anime

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Event in San Jose, California to be held on September 1-3

Crunchyroll Expo announced on Friday that it will host a premiere screening of the first two episodes of Double Decker! Doug & Kirill, an anime series that is "one part" of the "new Tiger & Bunny animation project."

Crunchyroll had announced at Anime Expo earlier this month that it would stream the anime this fall. The anime will also premiere in Japan this fall.

The series will follow a two-man detective team: one who is a veteran and one who is a rookie.

Joji Furuta (Utano☆Princesama Legend Star, The Seven Deadly Sins: Revival of The Commandments director, episode director and storyboarder on original Tiger & Bunny series) is directing the series at Sunrise. Ryo Ando (Interviews with Monster Girls) is in charge of series production, and Tomohiro Suzuki (Tiger & Bunny, One-Punch Man, ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Dept.) is returning to oversee the series scripts. Manga creator Masakazu Katsura (Zetman) is returning to design the main characters, and Norihiro Itagaki is returning from the Tiger & Bunny The Movie -The Rising- and Tiger & Bunny the Movie: The Beginning films to handle the animation character design. Yuki Hayashi (My Hero Academia, Haikyu!!, Death Parade) is composing the music.

The event will also host the worldwide English dub premiere of the first episode of the The Rising of The Shield Hero anime.

Crunchyroll Expo launched last year. This year's event will be held at the San Jose Convention Center in California from September 1-3. The event will also host The Legend of Zelda manga author duo Akira Himekawa, No Game, No Life anime director Atsuko Ishizuka, voice actress Yūko Ōno, and sound director and producer Ryousuke Naya. The event will also host DARLING in the FRANXX producer Yūichi Fukushima, director Atsushi Nishigori, and character designer Masayoshi Tanaka.

Crunchyroll Expo is also collaborating with GKIDS to screen 15 animated features at the festival, including Mary and The Witch's Flower, Fireworks, Lu over the wall, and older films such as Napping Princess and Patema Inverted. GKIDS and Crunchyroll will also screen several Studio Ghibli films.
