posted on by Egan Loo
Returning cast members also confirmed

The One Punch Man [Maji] School Festival event debuted a teaser for the second anime season based on ONE and Yūsuke Murata's One-Punch Man manga on Sunday. The teaser announced that the new season will premiere next April.

The event also confirmed that the group JAM Project is once again performing the opening theme song, and it unveiled a new teaser visual of Saitama, Genos, and the new character Garou by character designer Chikashi Kubota:

The main cast members are reprising their roles in the second season:

In addition, Hikaru Midorikawa will play the character Garou.

Chikara Sakurai (Magimoji Rurumo, episode director for Naruto Shippūden) is replacing Shingo Natsume to direct the season at J.C. Staff (Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma, Children of the Whales). Madhouse animated the first season.

Yoshikazu Iwanami (Girls und Panzer, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure) is replacing Shōji Hata as sound director. Chikashi Kubota (Corpse Princess: Aka, FLCL 2) is returning to design the characters, and Tomohiro Suzuki (ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Dept.) is again in charge of series composition. Makoto Miyazaki (Triage X, Dragon Crisis!) is also returning to compose the music.

Viz Media acquired the master license to the second anime season, including digital streaming, TV broadcast, electronic sell-through, home media, and merchandising rights for North America, Latin America and Oceania.

Madhouse and director Shingo Natsume's first 12-episode anime season aired in Japan from October-December 2015. Viz Media and Daisuki both streamed the series outside of Japan as it aired. The anime premiered with an English dub on Adult Swim's Toonami block in July 2016.

Viz Media released the first season on home video in North America. The company's Blu-ray Disc/DVD combo pack shipped with six original video anime (OVA) episodes in April 2017. Each OVA episode features a completely original story written by the manga's original author ONE.

Murata's manga series adapts ONE's original web manga of the same name. Murata's manga is currently running on Shueisha's free Tonari no Young Jump spinoff website. Shueisha released the 17th compiled book volume this month. The series has 14 million copies in print as of December.

Viz Media is publishing the original manga series digitally on its Weekly Shonen Jump anthology, and it is also releasing the series in print. Viz Media released the manga's 13th compiled volume on March 6.
