Alim, tri-Ace, Shueisha Launch Mist Gears Project With Game, Manga, Novel

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
iOS/Android game with 4-player co-op slated for fall

Mobile gaming company Alim, tri-Ace, and Shueisha announced a new collaborative project titled Mist Gears on Wednesday. The project will include a smartphone game for iOS and Android, a manga, and a novel. The project's new YouTube channel is streaming an announcement video.

The video lists the title of the manga as Mist Gears Blast and the title of the novel as Mist Gears Ghost, while the game is titled Mist Gears.

Hajime Tanaka is writing the scenario for the project. Manga creator Yōichi Amano (Stealth Symphony) is drawing the character designs. Amano drew the below image boards for the project.

The game will launch this fall, after holding a closed beta test for the Android version from September 7-10. The game's website is currently accepting applications for the beta test.

The project's story begins with the "Day of Purgatory" marking the arrival of Mist, a calamitous mist that becomes the worst disaster in known history. Life crumbles with its arrival, and strange beasts emerge from it. Humanity seems to be on the path to extinction. 70 years after the Day of Purgatory, the Valks Kingdom begins "Mist Gear," a project that will restore hope to humanity.

The game is labeled an "environment RPG." Players explore a world hidden in Mist, with Mist affecting battles, and also powering up skills called Mist Cores. Up to four players can team up with their Mist Gears to explore, investigate, and fight together.
