The official YouTube channel for Sega's Yakuza (Ryū ga Gotoku) franchise began streaming a new video on Monday for the Yakuza Online game. The video reveals that the game is now accepting pre-registrations.
The YouTube channel is also streaming a 13-minute special comment video featuring series chief producer Masayoshi Yokoyama and voice actor Kazuhiro Nakaya.
The game will launch for iOS and Android devices and on PC later this year.
While Kazuma Kiryū's story ended with Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, Yakuza Online starts a "New Yakuza" series with Ichiban Kasuga as the protagonist. Kazuhiro Nakaya is voicing the character. Sega also plans to continue the "New Yakuza" series with console games after Yakuza Online launches.
The game will be free to play, and in-game items will cost extra. The game takes place in 2018 in the Kamurochō area of Tokyo. Ichiban was born in 1977 and raised in Kamurochō. Ichiban comes back to Kamurochō after 17 years behind bars, and he will work to take back the district from the rule of a union between the police and the Omi Alliance.
